Today, we would discuss about sleeping disorders. I just came across certain facts that many people do suffer from sleeping disorders but they don’t pay attention to it. Therefore,Here I would discuss about sleeping disorders and why it is important to cure it.
Sleeping disorder means any changes in sleeping pattern or habits that can negatively affect health.
There are some types like Insomnia,Sleep Apnea,Restless lag syndrome,Parasomnia and Narcolepsy.But the most common is Insomnia.
Insomnia(Reduced sleep) is a very common sleeping disorder. Nowadays, It affects teenagers to older people. A research states that 28% of urban population suffer from Insomnia in India. Moreover, 10-15% people suffer from Chronic Insomnia.

Insomnia can be caused by various factors.
- Primary Insomnia is caused by stress related to major life events like loss of job or change,divorce or death of loved one.
- on the other hand secondary insomnia is caused by several medical conditiond like asthma,depression,cancer.
There are some risk factors for Insomnia.
- women are more prone to have insomnia than men.
- older people tend to have insomnia than young people.
- Long term illness
- mental health issues
-working night shifts or shifts that rotate. - Insomniac patients feel sleepiness during the day ; They may have fatigue,grumpsiness,problems with concentration or memory.
- If it is not treated it may lead to complications like Depression,Obesity,High blood pressure,Increased risk of falling for older people,anxiety,Grumpsiness,Slow reaction time which may result in accidents and trouble in focusing.
Here,I would recommend some remedies to prevent and cure insomnia.
- Dietary habits:-
• Avoid going to bed hungry.Have a healthy snack before bed,if necessary.
• Avoid eating a heavy meal within 2-3 hours of going to bed.
• Limit caffeine and alcohol intake at night.
• have a healthy,varied diet to boost well-being.
- Sleeping Habits:-
• Go to bed and wake up at the same time.
• Avoid using any device with a screen right before bed.
• Start winding down an hour before bedtime. like having a bath.
• Keep telephone and other devices away from your bed.
• Ensure that the room is at a comfortable temperature before bedtime.
• Use blackout blinds or curtains to darken the room.
- Well-being and Relaxation:-
• Exercise regularly,but not within 4 hours of bedtime.
• Do breathing and relaxation exercises before sleeping.
• Find something that helps you to have sleep such as soothing music or reading.
• Try not to nap during the day even if you are sleepy.
